Cian is a Seer - a being that is created, not born. He was once a human who found himself caught within a powerful magical anomaly and managed to survive, a rare feat for a mortal. His body absorbed the magic, changing him from the inside and turning him into a being powerful enough to rival the gods. Cian has only felt the full force of his powers once, when he opened eyes that were no longer meant to be opened. Having his eyes opened for even just a few minutes was long enough to cause immeasurable destruction around him - enough that he swore to never open his eyes again.
Seers have constant visions as they sleep, as well as sudden ones when they are awake. They can also enter a meditative state to induce visions. Most who become Seers are driven mad by the visions and are eventually consumed by the excessive power stored within them. Cian embraced them, managing to keep a relatively sound mind. While there are times he wishes he didn’t have them, nor all this power, he has accepted what he is and embraces it - even though the change drove him from his home, and turned him into a wanderer, due to the superstitions of the people there. It was the wandering that led him to a city in the desert, a place where magic was celebrated and the elusive Seers were considered special beings to be worshiped. While he had no interest in being an object of worship, he didn’t refuse the people’s offer to build him a temple - he needed a home, after all.
Cian has stayed in his temple for thousands of years, tucked away in a remote part of the desert in the hopes that he can just live in peace. Of course, there are those who make the trek to find out their futures - and playing fortune teller provides Cian with things he needs, such as food and comfort items. And while he always gives accurate predictions, he can also be petty when his patrons offend him and leave out certain details that he knows will affect the course of things. Though they are never details that would put lives at risk that weren’t meant to die, he has no desire to get on the god of death’s bad side by sending him early arrivals.
Then, there are also those who overstay their welcome and become an unwanted roommate who happens to prove useful - though still unwanted.
